Multi-wavelength analysis of Circum-Galactic Medium

Description
A large fraction of galactic baryon is hidden in a gaseous phase known as Circum-Galactic Medium (CGM), extending out to virial radii of the galaxies and possibly beyond. The CGM poses a potential solution to the galactic missing baryon problem. It also provides additional constraints on the feedback processes redistributing the gas out to large radii. Therefore, the CGM represents the next frontier of studying gas physics in galaxies. In today's talk, I present Sunyaev-Zel'dovich and X-ray emission as two of the most promising tools to constrain the properties of the CGM. Comparison of some of the most popular hot halo models reveals that such a multi-wavelength analysis of the CGM can help in breaking degeneracies in the model parameters with ongoing and future survey combinations such South Pole Telescope (SPT) in radio, eROSITA (in X-rays) and Dark Energy Survey (DES) in optical. CAMELS (Cosmology and Astrophysics with MachinE Learning Simulations) suite represents another avenue to test the impact of feedback on the CGM. Our ongoing effort focuses on comparing analytical models of the CGM with thermodynamic profiles from CAMELS simulation set.
