About the Speaker:
Prof. Naba Kumar Mondal, currently INSA Senior Scientist at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics was the Project Director of India-based Neutrino Observatory and a Senior Professor at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).  His research interest lies in elementary particle physics- detecting elementary particles and studying their properties. 

He is a fellow of all the three science academies of India - Indian National Science Academy (New Delhi), Indian Academy of Sciences (Bangalore) & National Academy of Sciences (Allahabad), and is a J.C. Bose National Fellow, and is also a fellow of the World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries (TWAS). 

Aside from his scholarly pursuits, Prof. Mondal has interests in various activities such as swimming, scuba diving, jogging and high mountain trekking.
