Surviving Success

Humans seek pleasure in personal and professional life. Pleasure seeking demands indulging in endless stream of decisions in daily life. Any decision, minor or major, could result in  successful or failure. Predictably failure gets associated with sadness and gloom and stress. In real life,  success is as much or perhaps more stressful than failure. We propose to unfold this paradox and offer suggestions to minimize distress.

D.r Vihang Vahia  is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at Dr. R. N. Cooper Municipal General Hospital and HBT Medical College, Mumbai. He was Founder HOD of Department of Psychological Medicine, Dr. R. N. Cooper Hospital, Mumbai as well as former Professor of Psychiatry of Cooper Hospital and Seth G.S. Medical College, Mumbai. He was also the former Chairperson of  Psychopharmacology Section, IPS as well as Founder Managing Trustee and CEO of Dr N. S. Vahia Foundation, Mumbai. He is Consultant Psychiatrist at Breach Candy and Lilavati Hospitals Mumbai. He has held and continue to hold distinguished/Life fellowships as well as office bearer positions at many national and international medical associations. American Psychiatric Association, Indian Psychiatric Society, Indian Association of Private Psychiatry and World Psychiatric Association, to name a few. He has extensively published in indexed medical journals, chapters in text books and monograms.
