Description
Blazars are the class of AGN with their relativistic jet pointed towards the observer. With the help of earlier low sensitivity gamma-ray experiments, around 60 blazars were studied at gamma-ray energies. Presently the on board gamma-ray telescope Fermi and second generation imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes studied more than 600 blazars at gamma-ray energies. These findings along with simultaneous observations in other wavelength challenge our present understanding about these sources.
In this talk I will speak about the results obtained from the earlier experiments and the problems faced by the simple theoretical models to explain the new observations.
