Description
Physics World seeks to reflect and report on the events, issues and personalities in the global physics community -- and to do so in a timely, accessible, accurate and entertaining way through our magazine, website, and audio and video content. Since 2009, we have each year selected our top 10 physics breakthroughs of the previous 12 months and this talk will review our choice of the top 10 breakthroughs of 2011. In explaining why we made our selection, I will also discuss the role of science journalists and the challenges they face in the modern age of the Internet and instant communication.
