Detector simulation is an integral part of any high energy physics experiment. During the design phase of an experiment, it is mainly used to study the physics potential of an experiment and to optimise the detector design. The sensitive part of the 50kton magnetised Iron Calorimeter (ICAL) detector is made of Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs). There are about 3.5 million electronic channels to detect and identify the neutrino interactions. We begin the simulations from neutrino interactions within iron material, then propagate these through the detector material and finally produce signals in the sensitive detector. The interacting neutrino is identified and its four momenta are detected using the reconstruction code. In this talk I will try to summarise the full simulation and reconstruction chain of the ICAL detector. |
