Description
Gravitational-wave (GW) observations allow us to test general relativity (GR) in a regime that is inaccessible to other astronomical observations or laboratory tests. The recent LIGO observation of a GW signal from a binary black-hole merger has already allowed us to test GR in a regime of extreme gravity and velocities. This talk will summarize the tests performed to
establish the consistency of the first observed GW signal with the GR prediction, and will survey prospects of upcoming GW observations in testing GR.
