by Dr. A.D. Sahasrabudhe (Director, College of Engineering, Pune)

Friday, June 18, 2010 from to (Asia/Kolkata)
at Colaba Campus ( AG-66 )
Description
Mankind has been blessed with great imaginative power to innovate and make living and life comfortable. Scientific inventions have aided in developing and improving new appliances. From time immemorial, manufacturing and design of products have gone hand in hand; right from skilled craftsmanship to the modern era of concurrent engineering. The product development cycle has become shorter and shorter. The cusom made products and table top manufacturing are becoming the order of the day. The time between designing a new product and its manufacturing is narrowing. The developments in newer materials both natural and artificial are leading to a scale of manufacturing ranging from macro, meso, micro to nano. This is an exciting journey full of innovations learning from nature and biological systems. The talk will engage in tracing the history of manufacturing and design from ancient to modern times, peeping into the possibilities of the future.
