Description
Starting with a brief outline of the general definitions of the different types of stabilities considered in general relativity, we shall review the stability aspects of the static Schwarzschild black hole and rotating Kerr spacetimes. Our results on the modal stability of Kerr superspinars will be stated and some implications discussed. Kerr superspinars have been proposed as compact objects that carry enough angular momentum to violate the Kerr bound, J = M2 Their exterior geometry is described by the J>M2 class of the Kerr solution of the Einstein equations in general relativity.
