Description
Cobalt chromite (CoCr2O4) is well-known spinel cubic system, having interesting temperature and field dependent magnetic properties. In this compound, which has spinel structure, the Co2+ –ions (3d7) occupy the tetrahedral sites (A) and the Cr3+ –ions (3d3) are at the octahedral (B) sites. The strong coupling between the magnetic ions in different sites leads to a various interesting magnetic properties. In this talk, we shall address the effect of different transition metal ions [at Co-site (A-site) and Cr-site (B-site)] on these properties. Appearance of the negative magnetization and exchange bias around the compensation temperature will be discussed. Temperature dependent Neutron diffraction experiments will be used to correlate with the bulk magnetic properties.
