Description
One of the major components of the CMS experiment at CERN is the hadron calorimeter which is used in the measurement of jets, missing transverse energy and isolation variables for leptons and photons. Extraction of signals from the calorimeter relies heavily on the calibration of this detector. The calibration process has started from the time of construction, installation and commissioning of the system. It is continually monitored using built in calibration units as well as with collision data. Currently there are six different efforts which prepare hadron calorimeter data for getting measurements of jets and missing transverse energy. Some of these efforts will be illustrated.
