Description
Since 2013, significant progress has been made in understanding the infrared (low energy) structure of gauge and gravity theories in flat spacetimes by studying asymptotic symmetries of the same. A study of these infinite - dimensional symmetries has revealed a rich structure in the soft sector of any theory with massless particles. This has led to interesting formal developments and also has observational consequences. In this talk, I will review these developments and focus on some of the highlights in this endeavor.
