Description
Astrochemistry is an interdisciplinary subject which needs the knowledge of astrophysics, astronomy, chemistry and many more. In the interstellar medium(ISM) more than 200 molecules have been observed including deuterated molecules (e.g., HDO, CH2DOH). Study of the chemical species in star-forming regions, especially for low-mass star system helps us to know more about our chemical heritage. Although the primordial D/H ratio in the ISM is ~10-5, many molecules are seen to be heavily enriched (more than three orders for singly deuterated molecules). In my talk, I will present how the deuterium enrichment occurs in ISM and chemical and physical processes related to it. I will also show how the results from ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter Array) observation help us to describe physio-chemical properties of a few selected star-forming regions.
