Description
Drift Tubes (DT) chambers make up the muon detector system in the central region of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The LHC is planned to be upgraded to the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) after 2025, and the electronics for the DT system are to be upgraded to deal with the higher rates expected in the new environment of the HL-LHC. Prototypes of the upgraded electronics system are already being tested during the second long shutdown period of the LHC, between 2019 and 2020. The details of the CMS DT system and its upgrade will be discussed in this presentation, with a special focus on the calibration of the DT system.
