Description
Luminescence, specially photo-luminescence, providing important structure-function information, fascinates many of us. Research in our group at IISER Kolkata encircles upon creating photo-luminescent (PL) substances and extracting multi-parametric information about these PL substances employing techniques like ultra-sensitive single molecule spectroscopy in our home-build confocal/TIRF microscope and ultra-fast dynamics through femtosecond pump-probe transient absorption. We explore PL substances such as fluorescent protein chromophores, carbon dots and different types of quantum dots including the perovskites. A few apparently naive questions regarding these PL substances and our approach to those queries will be discussed. Finally, application pathways of these PL substances towards bio-imaging/LED etc. will be envisaged upon.
