Description
MATLAB is a high-level language and interactive environment that includes mathematical functions for solving engineering and scientific problems. In this seminar, we will present select case studies highlighting how MathWorks tools were instrumental in solving key research challenges. One of the case studies is regarding the development of real-time instrumentation for acquiring and processing data in radio astronomy. At UC Berkeley, the Center for Astronomy Signal Processing and Electronics Research (CASPER), scientists and engineers were able to deploy sophisticated radio astronomy instruments in a very short time using a custom-built library, developed using MathWorks tools. The second case study demonstrates how an AI based approach was used to screen materials for lithium-based battery electrolyte from a database of over 12,000 options at Stanford University. To show the programming and visualization environment of MATLAB, solution of a problem involving coupled differential equation will also be shown.
