Antennas, RF Electronics and Signal Transport System in building the upgraded GMRT

Description
The presentation will be on the design and technical constraints that are overcome in building the antenna feeds, RF receiver electronics and Signal transport system of the upgraded GMRT. With a brief review of the legacy system, it will talk about how the engineers upgraded the GMRT array in small steps and build the entire system inhouse at GMRT Labs at Khodad.  In the end, a summary of performance specifications and the features of the upgraded GMRT receiver will be presented with its future scope. 

About the Speaker:

Shri. S. Sureshkumar, Engineer F and Group head of RF and Fiber optics system at GMRT, he is working since June 1992 at NCRA-TIFR, Pune. He obtained his B.Sc in Physics at Madras University and B.Tech in Electronics from Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai. Later in 1998, he completed his Master in Engineering at College of Engineering Pune. He is specialized in RF over Fiber Optic Systems and has designed the signal transport system of the upgraded GMRT. His other areas of specialization are Antennas, RF Receivers, Gigabit Ethernet Networking over Fiber and Radio Frequency Interference mitigation.
