This talk presents a search for the direct production of a pseudoscalar axion-like particle (ALP) decaying to two photons with the ATLAS and CMS detector at the LHC. We search for the process γγ→a→γγ in the mass range 5-100 GeV using very high photon fluxes from the ultra peripheral collisions (UPC) of Pb-Pb ions. ALPs are predicted by many extensions of the standard model, postulated to solve the strong CP problem in QCD. PbPb UPC provides the most stringent constraints on ALP search in the mass range 5-100 GeV.
