Description
Extensive studies about the top quark production processes and properties carried out over the last three decades at the hadron colliders have given us enormous insight about various standard model (SM) parameters. It has allowed direct measurements of the strong and weak couplings, the structure of the proton, tuning of the parameters of the different hadronization models etc. with extremely high precision. In addition, top quarks have also paved the way for direct and indirect searches for new physics beyond the SM at the energy frontier. In this seminar, an overview of recent physics results involving the top quark along with a few promising prospects for the future will be discussed.
