Description
A search for dark matter (DM) particles is performed using events with a pair of bottom quarks and missing transverse momentum (MET). The analysis uses proton-proton collision data recorded at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb−1 . The search is conducted in the final state with large MET and one or two b-tagged jets. Major backgrounds from electroweak vector boson production in association with jets and pair production of top quarks are predicted via a simultaneous fit of signal and respective control regions. No significant excess is observed. Limits are set on DM production in the context of two Higgs doublet model with an extra light pseudoscalar (2HDM+a). This is the first result from CMS which probes the DM production using bottom quarks in the context of 2HDM+a model. The target phase space is high tan 𝛽 and hence complements the other searches performed within the traditional MET+X umbrella.
