Description
Bottomonium, a bound state of a bottom quark and its antiquark, was discovered in the late seventies and since then has been copiously produced at high-energy particle colliders in different environments. In heavy-ion collisions the suppressed production of bottomonium with respect to nucleon-nucleon collisions is a clear signature of the formation of the state of
matter called quark-gluon plasma. Besides the suppression factor, several observables have been measured in the last years at the LHC experiments. Combining an open quantum system approach with effective field theories of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) it is possible to provide a theoretically well founded and phenomenologically successful description of these measurements. I report about this latest theoretical progress.
