Description
I will discuss the evolution of conserved currents in certain flow profiles relevant for describing ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. I will show how Israel-Stewart-like generalizations of hydrodynamic theories can capture qualitative features of a medium even when it is not close to equilibrium. I will present a method of truncating the infinite hierarchy of moments of the Boltzmann equation, and demonstrate that the ensuing framework provides a good description of a system both near and far from local equilibrium.
