Description |
The current "Renaissance-movement" in Green-technologies has everything to do with global-warming and depleting reserves of Fossil-fuels. The abundance of Solar energy has prompted ways and means to harness it for different energy requirements. In particular, devices that convert Solar-thermal energy into "practical" day-to-day use are being adopted on a large scale. These implements offer attractive "cumulative" returns-- a reason that both environmentalists and venture capitalists have begun to cheer. Solar-cooking in our country has taken-off due to a unique blend of weather pattern, cuisine and technology. Scheffler community steam cooking systems can cook several thousands of meals per (sunny)-day!. Large Solar dryers are coming into the realm of farming sector to dry agricultural produce--improving the end-product quality and minimizing colossal wastage in the normal set of operations. In this talk an overview of Solar-cooking systems, solar dryers and recent initiatives in Solar-power generation will be presented |
