Description
ABSTRACT:

Resonant oscillations of the Sun and stars can inform us about their internal structure and dynamics, just like earthquakes tell us about the interior of the Earth. Since 2010 the SDO spacecraft has observed the full spectrum of solar acoustic oscillations in order to probe the subtle motions in the solar interior that drive magnetic activity. In parallel, Kepler (an exoplanet mission) is revolutionizing stellar physics with accurate seismic characterization of hundreds of stars. I will present some recent results and discuss what we hope to achieve in the future, especially with the PLATO mission to be launched in 2024.
