Description |
CDF is one of the two detector experiments collecting data at the Tevatron collider in the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Batavia, USA. I shall present an overview of the status of the CDF silicon detectors, with emphasis on studies performed to ensure an optimal performance for an extended run of Tevatron. The current Run II of Tevatron, which was expected to end in 2011, is likely to be extended for another three years till 2014. I shall also present some recent results on the B hadron lifetimes and spectroscopy, which directly benefit from the vertexing capabilities of the silicon detectors. Some of these results are world's best measurements while the rest are competitive or complementary to those from the two B factories. |
