Description
In recent years, the investigation of neutron stars has emerged as a fascinating research field at the juncture of nuclear physics and astrophysics. It serves as an excellent non-terrestrial laboratory to test and validate physical theories. With the accumulation of substantial and reliable data, the investigation of the equation of state (EOS) of neutron stars has entered a new era of quantification, enabling us to unravel the fundamental aspects of these enigmatic celestial bodies. In this seminar, I will discuss the properties of nuclear matter inside neutron stars over a wide range of temperatures, density, asymmetry, pressure and magnetic field. I will introduce our work on the neutron star interior structure and its EoS, emphasising its surface layer, also known as the “Crust”. The crust plays a paramount role in neutron star properties and has become a tool to constrain nuclear EoS and its observables in recent times. Furthermore, I will explore how astrophysical observations can provide us with valuable insights into the surface structure of neutron stars and their associated properties. By leveraging these observations, we can gain a deeper understanding of the intricate details of neutron star surfaces and advance our comprehension of these fascinating cosmic entities.
