Description
D-brane constructions of the Standard Model are often carried out in a
local setting; the branes are at singularities or wrap local cycles.
Isometries in the local geometry imply global symmetries in the
model. In this talk, we will discuss the size and form of the leading
symmetry breaking effects once such models are embedded into a
compactification. The setting allows for hierarchical separation in
the symmetry breaking parameters.
