Description
VHE Gamma ray astronomy is rapidly entering into a mature phase with a large number of discoveries made possible with the current generation of imaging atmospheric cerenkov telescopes (IACT). MAGIC is the world`s largest single dish ground based gamma ray telescope that has been in operation since summer 2004. The major motivation of the MAGIC project is to study the high energy phenomena in the universe in the unexplored energy region from 50 GeV to 300 GeV and beyond upto few tens of TeV. I will present recent exciting results on both galactic and extragalactic VHE gamma ray sources observed with the MAGIC telescope. I will also briefly outline the future plans for MAGIC.
