Description |
The origin of cosmic rays has been one of the most outstanding problems in astrophysics since its discovery by Viktor Hess more than hundred years ago. Very High Energy (VHE) gamma-ray astrophysics started primarily in the context of sources of cosmic ray particles which are the progenitors of gamma-rays. Rapid progress in the understanding of the cosmic ray origin has been made in the last decade with the observations performed with the new generation of detectors both in space and from the ground. I will shortly review the field and highlight some of the important achievements made and also talk about the problems that lie ahead of us. I will briefly talk about the future course of action in the field. |
