Description
Type IIA strings compactified on Calabi--Yau threefolds with Hodge--Betti numbers h^{1,1} and h^{2,1} give rise to fields that can be organised into a gravity multiplet, a tensor multiplet, h^{1,1} vector multiplets, and h^{2,1} hypermultiplets. The tensor multiplet can be dualised into a hypermultiplet that is universal. The scalars of the universal hypermultiplet classically take values on the coset space SU(2,1)/U(2) but the invariant metric receives quantum corrections of both perturbative as well as nonperturbative nature. In this talk, we shall review some of the twistorial techniques that have been used to make progress on the problem of determination of all the corrections, with a focus on perturbative ones.
