Description
The top quark has its fair share of importance in the standard model (SM); its production along with its antiparticle partner (tt̅) is an extremely vital process since that constitutes a major background for many beyond the SM searches. Many measurements conducted in CMS and ATLAS experiments have shown that there is a mismodeling of the top transverse momentum at the boosted end of the spectrum. A thorough investigation of this can be used as a stringent test for perturbative quantum chromodynamics as well as a search for new physics. At the CERN LHC, we have access to a high center-of-mass energy enabling us to conduct a study using boosted tt̅only and to calculate its fiducial cross-section. We use the clean dilepton final-state channel and an in-house developed top tagging, which uses jet substructure properties and lepton identification information to effectively identify boosted large-radius jets. We shall talk about our preliminary studies in this direction using data collected by the CMS experiment in 2018. Towards the end, we present our work regarding the performance monitoring, calibration, and isolation study of Level-1 tau objects.
