Description
Measurements of quarkonium states in heavy-ion collisions provide a powerful tool to study both initial-state effects on heavy-quark production and final-state interactions between heavy quarks and the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). Consequently, quarkonium, both charmonium and bottomonium, measurements in A+A, p+A, and pp collisions have been an important part of the heavy-ion program at the LHC. I will discuss measurement methods and results primarily from the ATLAS experiment, as well as some results from the CMS experiment. These will be contextualized in terms of our present and future physics questions at the LHC.
