Description Fluctuations of global observables, particularly conserved quantities, nominally provide a powerful probe of the properties of the QCD matter formed in heavy-ion collisions as well the nature and structure of the QGP to hadron gas phase transition. In this talk, I will review some of the key works carried out by the ALICE Collaboration towards towards the elucidation of these properties based on integral correlations, and more specifically, fluctuations of conserved quantities. I will show that much work remains to be done to fully capture these properties.
