1st National Workshop on GEANT4 and its Application to High-Energy Physics and Astrophysics

This interdisciplinary workshop is targeted to introduce intermediate to advance concepts of GEANT4 toolkit to graduate students (MSc and PhD), early career researchers and scientific staff in high-energy physics and/or in X-ray/gamma-ray astronomy. The workshop will have a series of lectures and hands-on tutorials deliverd by international and national experts where participants will build and run their own GEANT4 models and apply it to their own research. Participants are expected to have a basic knowledge of GEANT4 and have a plan for using GEANT4 in their research work. The main aim of this workshop is capacity building towards experimental projects in high energy physics, space astrophysics, and particle physics and gathering a community of GEANT4 users in India. Specific topics to be covered:

• Advanced functionality of the GEANT4 simulation toolkit
• High energy physics and astrophysics detector physics
• GEANT4 application to high energy physics and space based detector simulations

The workshop will be held in-person at IUCAA, Pune from Demeber 5th to 9th, 2022. There is no registration fee however selection of participants will based on the statement of purpose and the reference letters that are necessary for the registration. Note that there is an upper limit on number of participants hence we strongly reccomend that participants clearly mention their level of GEANT4 knowledge and potential use of the toolkit in their research in the statement while registering for the workshop.

For selected participants, lodging/boarding and meals will be provided free of cost. There is also a possibilty of travel support for limited participants, details about this will be communicated soon on the website.

Although the workshop is aimed for post-graduate students/researcher, undergraduate students with prior knoweldge of GEANT4 and clear plan for its use in their research are encouraged to apply.
